Houthi Ballistic Missile Strikes Residential Area in Ibb Province

A ballistic missile, believed to have been launched by Houthi militia forces, struck a residential area in the Al-Majma'a district of Ibb province, Yemen, early Sunday morning, causing significant damage to at least five homes.

Local sources reported that the projectile fell in a region northwest of Ibb city, sparking widespread panic among residents. Preliminary investigations suggest the missile originated from a Houthi-controlled military camp in the Yarim district. The incident occurred simultaneously with a separate Houthi missile offensive targeting residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure in the city of Taiz.

Media activist Ibrahim Asqin confirmed the extent of the structural damage, noting that the home of citizen Hafizullah Qaid al-Shanini was among those impacted. While reports indicate that no casualties have been confirmed thus far, the blast caused substantial material destruction to the affected properties.

Following the impact, Houthi militants reportedly established a security cordon around the site, prohibiting residents from documenting the damage or disseminating information regarding the incident. Despite these restrictions, local citizens successfully circulated images of the destroyed homes on social media platforms.

Residents across Ibb reported hearing intermittent explosions throughout the morning, which are believed to be linked to ongoing ballistic missile launches from militia-held positions. The Houthi group has increasingly utilized the mountainous terrain and military sites within Ibb province to target Taiz and government-held coastal areas, a strategy that has frequently resulted in failed launches and projectiles landing within densely populated civilian zones.
