Houthi Shelling Targets Residential Areas in Hajjah, Causing Civilian Casualties
Houthi militia forces launched a targeted artillery strike on residential areas in the Hayran district of Hajjah province on Tuesday, resulting in significant civilian casualties and extensive destruction of private property.
Local sources reported that the attack, which struck a civilian home in the Al-Dair sub-district, left a 29-year-old woman, Samira Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim, in critical condition after sustaining shrapnel wounds to her neck and right leg. Additionally, a five-year-old child, Nidal Ali Ibrahim Badidi, suffered shrapnel injuries to his left leg. The shelling caused severe structural damage to the residence and destroyed personal property belonging to the family.
This incident is part of a broader pattern of persistent aggression by the Houthi militia against villages and densely populated areas in northern Hajjah. These ongoing attacks have consistently resulted in civilian casualties, including women and children, while fostering a climate of widespread fear and instability among the local population.
The shelling follows a series of recent escalations in the region, including a drone strike conducted by Houthi forces just days prior in the Bani Hassan area of the Abs district. That assault resulted in the destruction of livestock belonging to local residents, underscoring the militia's continued campaign of violations against civilians in liberated districts across the northern reaches of the province.
