Houthi Offensive Repelled in Taiz as Military Tensions Escalate

Resistance forces in the Sabr Al-Mawadim and Al-Masrakh districts of Taiz successfully repelled a multi-front offensive launched by Houthi militants on Tuesday, as the region faces a surge in military reinforcements and civilian casualties.

Field sources confirmed that Houthi forces initiated a coordinated assault across four axes targeting resistance positions in Dhahih-Kuhlan, Al-Najadah, Al-Awawat, and Anbiyan. The offensive followed two days of intensive Houthi mobilization, including the deployment of heavy weaponry and infiltration attempts from villages currently under militia control. Resistance fighters reportedly intercepted the movements, resulting in fierce clashes that forced the attackers to retreat after sustaining significant losses.

The escalation has exacted a heavy toll on the local civilian population, with reports of indiscriminate shelling and sniper fire targeting residential areas. An 18-year-old woman and a local resident identified as Mohammed Mahyoub were killed, while several children sustained injuries. Additionally, two women were critically wounded by sniper fire, though ongoing hostilities have severely hindered efforts to transport them to medical facilities. Local mediation attempts by women from Al-Akamah village to secure a ceasefire for the evacuation of the wounded have thus far failed.

Military activity remains high as Houthi reinforcements, including armored vehicles, continue to arrive in the Al-Khurayshah and Al-Akamah sectors. Residents have reported the presence of Houthi elements in the Al-Najadah area, prompting the resistance to maintain a state of high alert. Strategically, the militants appear to be attempting to pressure resistance positions to secure supply routes toward Mashra'a and Hadnan.

Despite the persistent pressure and the arrival of additional military assets, resistance forces have maintained their defensive lines across all active fronts. Observers warn that the current state of mobilization and the persistent influx of Houthi reinforcements indicate a high probability of renewed combat in the coming hours, further threatening the stability of the region.
